5 Ways to Serve Your Community in 2019

2019 is in full swing and you are still faithfully following your New Year’s resolutions. Giving back to your community is something everyone should consider adding to their list of resolutions. Here is a list of 5 things you could to serve your community this year.

1. Donate Food

Maybe you went a little overboard with the amount of cans of corn your bought for Christmas or you decided not to cook for New Years, either way donate. Check your kitchen or maybe pick up a extra non perishable at the grocery store and donate it to your local shelter or soup kitchen. Many donate during the holiday season, but the need for canned goods does not stop at the end of the year. Every little bit helps.

2. Have a clothing drive

Just about anyone can host a clothing drive. You can partner with a local church, organization, school, or your neighbors and get everyone involved. This is a great way to give back to your community along with doing a little spring cleaning.

3. Neighborhood clean up

You can invite some of your neighbors and pick a day to clean up the neighborhood. It’s a great way to get to know your neighbors and fix up your community for the better.

4. Volunteer with an Organization Year around

If you have the time committing to an organization can be a great experience. You can possibly  learn a new skill. Volunteer work has caused an increase in happiness and a decrease in stress in many. Also you can get to know the people in your community.

5. Volunteer at a event

Can’t commit to volunteering for several months at a time? Understandable. Look for organizations that a looking for volunteers just for the day. It is a lot easier to fit into a schedule and you still get the fuzzy feeling of helping your community.
