One homeowner, for example, after a lightning storm, a tree had fallen on her roof. She did not have enough insurance and cash on hand to pay for the tree removal and a new roof. In answer to her prayers, SOS stepped in as the hands of God to care for this grandmother in need.
In four short weeks, we completed critical home repairs ranging from roof replacement to framing to drywall to attic insulation. We also enjoyed conversation and some delicious pizza, donuts and fried chicken provided by homeowners! We watched God fuse connections between people whose lives couldn't look more different on the outside, but yet united them because of the fraternal bond of Christian love.
Along the way, we also saw God move in the hearts of many of these students as they gave honor to Christ who moved among them. More than once, at the end of the week, we heard from college students who said:
"For the first time this week, as I heard the Gospel message and saw its implications lived out, I placed my faith in Christ and I want to follow him." Praise to our God who saves!
Thank you to all who prayed, volunteered, traveled, gave financially or gave a helping hand! SOS couldn't carry out our mission without you.
"For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, 12 training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, 13 waiting for our blessed hope, theappearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, 14 who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works." Titus 2:11-14
"For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.9 And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. 10 So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith." Galatians 6:8-10
