PEOPLE!
WE. ARE. PUMPED.
We’ve got our 2022 SOS calendar all marked and ready for another year full of proclaiming the good, good news of Jesus Christ with you as we serve the city we love in providing roof replacements in Binghampton, the Heights, and Orange Mound.

We’re always seeking to make SOS a better machine of our mission! To that end, we are introducing some ways we wish to innovate and bring new sparks of goodness to the SOS experience we love. We hope and pray they convey our excitement and hope, though we know change is hard and can feel weird!
Some of those changes and innovations:
All weeks will be HIGH SCHOOL ONLY. (That’s rising 9th graders and up.)
Each week will begin on Sunday afternoon and run through Friday morning with full workdays Monday - Thursday. No half-day Wednesday, but we will keep one evening open for you and your team to do dinner together out in Memphis and see some sights! (No dinner/programming at SOS that night.)
Each week has a maximum capacity of 100 participants.
Camp tuition is $350/guest.
We are only hosting camp at our Binghampton location in 2022. No SOS114 this summer, though we will still be partnering with homeowners in Orange Mound!
YES! Tell me all about spring break trips at SOS!
Check your school’s spring break and join us:
March 6-11
March 13-17
March 20-25
March 27-April 1
Groups or individuals can register via our website beginning on Friday, October 1, 2021 at 10:00am CST.
Some details for you Spring Break guests at SOS:
Join us from Sunday evening through Friday morning. Monday - Thursday are full workdays. Friday is an optional day. We welcome you to use it as a bonus workday on the roofs, but also invite you to use it as a day to go and see the fantastic sights and sounds of Memphis or get on the road!
Need more time to enjoy Memphis? Groups can stay at SOS on Friday for a small additional fee.
We accept group or individual registrations for Spring Break spots.
Group registrations require a $150 non-refundable deposit. This per group deposit is due at the time of registration.
Individual registrations require a $25 non-refundable deposit. This per individual deposit is due at the time of registration.
SOS Spring Break trips are reserved for college students (and college-aged adults) only.
For the safety of our community and all our spring break participants, we are requiring all spring break participants be fully vaccinated from COVID-19 prior to arriving for Spring Break at SOS OR show proof of a negative COVID-19 test within 3 days of arrival. For more information on this, please contact us.
YES! Tell me all about applying to be on summer staff!
Not only could we not functionally host a summer camp without our summer staff, but you are also one of our greatest and most favorite Kingdom investments!
Here’s the team we’re looking for in 2022:
Team Leaders (16)
Hands-on, boots-on-the-ground (…and roof) team leaders will carry forth SOS’ duel camp goals of roof replacements done safely, efficiently, and with excellence AND empowering our beloved high school guests to partner in the work. Each worksite will be led by two team leaders who will co-lead two volunteer groups.
No construction experience is necessary. SOS will train on all systems and skills required.
Construction Managers (3)
Construction managers ensure that team leaders are daily equipped for success and efficiency in the good work of roof replacements. Work hours are spent between team leaders’ worksites and serving strategically.
Some construction experience is necessary.
Construction Supervisor (1)
A construction supervisor will partner with the SOS Construction Director to provide professional oversight and top-tier leadership to SOS Construction Managers.
Shop Manager (1)
The shop manager will ensure the efficient management of and supply in and from the SOS shop. The shop will support and supply the eight ongoing worksites and will coordinate worksite deliveries as part of the Construction Team.
Program Supervisors (3)
Program supervisors will do it all…almost! The most versatile members of the summer staff team, program supervisors will be responsible for the maintenance and fulfillment of all of the details that make a week’s experience at SOS impactful, impressive, and really, really fun. Program supervisors will work closely with the SOS full-time staff and will be responsible for caring well for a myriad of SOS customers and needs.
Relevant experience (customer service, detail management, team leadership) is preferred.
Might I be a fit for the SOS Summer Staff?
The SOS Summer Staff, and the SOS Alumni family it annually adds to, is one of the greatest fruits that SOS can grow for the Kingdom that we will never quit on. It’s more than summer camp, it’s more than straight laying shingles…it’s the desire to submit to and serve King Jesus in the way that you posture yourself out in the world, the way you speak and care, the way you spend your time and resources. We believe in a Beloved Community that is incredibly diverse in strengths and skills…and needs you.
If you wish to serve others and to be nurtured and invested in, this might be the opportunity for you. Our full-time staff and community of SOS partners are (humbly!) a wealth of experience, wisdom, passion, and belief. As summer staff, it is our deep joy and heartfelt commitment to share our hearts and minds with you for the good of the Kingdom and glory of King Jesus who keeps us captivated…even on rooftops in impossible heat and humidity.
We’re all in. How about you?
Summer staff applications will open Monday, November 1, 2021.
And a note that feels both like it goes unsaid and must be said:
It’s weird to plan for fun, exciting Spring and Summer programs in a pandemic. We have great hope for 2022 at SOS and we will continue to seek out and submit to the recommendations given to us as we serve our city.
To that end, SOS will update our COVID-19 protocols regularly as we approach 2022 and Spring and Summer programs. Our protocols will be based on recommendations and policies from the CDC as well as local health directives in Memphis. Please know that we will closely follow all recommendations (which may include things like mask-wearing indoors, social distancing, proof of vaccination and/or negative COVID-19 test results, etc.).
