BDC Fall Health Fair

We love opportunities to partner with other ministries and organizations serving Binghampton, The Heights & Orange Mound. On this particular afternoon, we joined the Binghampton Development Corporation in blessing our neighbors. Here's an inside look from our intern, Sidney Dennis. And a special thanks to Binghampton Community Church for the photos.

This past Saturday a few of our staff pack up our trusty van Shuggs and headed out to Howze park for the Binghampton Fall Festival and Health Fair put on by the BDC. There were lots of community organizations there having fun and passing out candy on that sunny afternoon. SOS brought a washer toss, The Binghampton Community Church hosted an egg toss and we avoided the splatter by only a few inches. The Hamp attracted students with their foam footballs and football ministry, Eikon passed out flyers about their gatherings, the Bing Dance House performed, and Walgreens was giving free flu shots. That was only a few of the things going on.  The weather was phenomenal so the park was filled with people. The festival lasted about two hours but even so, we ran out of candy before the end. That did not matter to the kids, they wanted to play our games anyway! It was a great time to interact with our neighbors and others that we may not see too often. We got to hang out with many of our SOS Builders that we work with on Wednesdays. On Saturday at 12:00 the park was a beautiful sight, God’s kingdom was present and I couldn't be happier to be part of such a vibrant neighborhood. That sight reminded me of Luke 17: 20-21

Once, having been asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, Jesus replied, “The kingdom of God does not come with your careful observation, nor will people say, ‘Here it is,’ or ‘There it is,’ because the kingdom of God is within you.”
