Meet the Interns! (pt. 2)

Tuesday we introduced you to a few of the SOS Academy Interns.  In case you missed it, click here to meet them. The seven SOS Academy Interns will spend one-year serving our city as well as learning about ministry in an urban environment.  Today we'll introduce you to the fellas: Ethan, Jake, and Stephen.

Ethan

Ethan Cagle was born and raised in North Carolina, near the Fort Bragg/Fayetteville area.  He attended UNC Chapel Hill and graduated in May 2013 with a BA in English, a second major in Religious Studies, and a minor in Music.  Ethan is spending his internship year working at Cornerstone Prep, a charter school in Binghampton, where he splits his time helping in the classroom and doing administrative work in the office.  Ethan plans to eventually become an elementary teacher, so he is trying to absorb as much as possible through his experience at Cornerstone.  In his spare time, Ethan likes to read, sing in the shower, and play scales on his flute… while drinking LOTS of coffee.

Jake

Jake Wigg was born raised in a small town outside of Omaha, Nebraska.  He spent many of his summers working on a produce farm. Jake graduated from the University of Missouri with a degree in Sociology and Religious Studies.  While at Mizzou, he got involved with a campus church where he met his wife, Amanda. They spent their first week of dating volunteering at an SOS Spring Break trip. They tied the knot in May 2013.  Jake is working with the Urban Farms in Binghampton.  He is excited about the opportunity to help grow the farm as well as serve the community of Binghampton.

Stephen

Stephen Copeland was born in Raleigh, North Carolina, but spent most of his life living in the Blacksburg, VA area (GO HOKIES). After working as a Team Leader for SOS in 2012, he decided to return to Memphis with the Academy after finishing college. Stephen graduated from Liberty University in May of 2013 with a BS in Philosophy/Religion. This year he will be interning with Christ Community Health, specifically in their Spiritual Health program.  Ever active and down for adventure, Stephen enjoys the great outdoors, soccer, frisbee golf, Downton Abbey, and he generally sports a stylish beard (pictured above).
