Meet Our Summer Staff: Zach Jones

How did you get connected to SOS? Jake emailed Paul at Mizzou, who is a staff member at the Rock Campus Church. Paul posted on Facebook and I responded to that.

What is your role this summer?

I’m a runner for the SOS Shop

What does a typical day look like?

One of us in the shop shares a devotional- whether that’s Thomas (Shop Manager), a college runner or a high school runner- and we do random topics over life in general. After that we pray out of that. Then we wait for Thomas to get done with the CM meeting so we have all of our runs for the day to start with. Then we head out on runs delivering whatever those are. While we’re at the site, we say hi to everyone and introduce ourselbes to the homeowner if we havn’e met them. Then we drop of the supplies and share some random scripture from the Bible for inspiration to get them started for the day or keep htem going. Sometime we pray out from there and that’s a normal run. We do that repeatedly throughout the day. When I’m at the shop, I do any number of things: repairing anything that needs repaired, cut lumber, talk with highschool guys. 

What is your favorite part about working in the shop?

They let me do what I want to do. They hand me random stuff that people break and I get to fix it! I enjoy doing that!

And Going on runs and giving Scripture is a lot of fun also.

What is the hardest part of your job?

The days that aren’t as busy (we don’t have as many runs)… finding things to do is the hardest. Because I like to be constantly doing something or I get really bored.

What scripture did you share to the team on your last worksite run?

Psalm 55:22 "Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you. He will never let the righteous be shaken."
